Katrina IHT Listings
Demolition Listings
The City of New Orleans gives official notification that it intends to demolish the following list of properties. These properties have been Adjudicated and declared a public nuisance pursuant to the provisions of Section 28-37, et seq., of the New Orleans City Code. A legal owner who disputes the proposed demolition must present their objections in writing to the Department of Code Enforcement of the City of New Orleans within twenty (20) days from date of this notice. The address of the Office of Housing Code Enforcement is 1340 Poydras St. Suite 1100 New Orleans, La. 70112. Please mark attention “Mr. Hillary Carrere” on the outside of your envelope. The City of New Orleans makes no legal representation that relief will or will not be granted. Click here to view a list of these properties . Properties may be removed from the demolition process for a number of reasons. The City is conducting extensive notification and the owners may come forward and demonstrate a serious intention to bring the structure into compliance with the City code (if the owner subsequently fails to bring the property into compliance, the City may reconsider demolition of the property). The demolition may also be denied by the City or State’s historic review commissions. Click here to view a list of properties removed from the demolition process . Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for enforcing the City’s housing standards. This includes inspecting and prosecuting blighted property in the city, processing demolitions and laying the ground work for redevelopment activities. In the last six months the department has undergone a number of enhancements. The Department has built a new website to inform residents about these enhancements and to explain the code enforcement process and give up to date information about hearings, inspection and other enforcement activities. NCDC
The Neighborhood Conservation District Committee (NCDC) of the City of New Orleans is a committee developed to review demolition applications within the district. Since demolition is an irreversible step, there is a need for careful review to ensure that demolitions are not performed unnecessarily. Please refer to the Ordinance for all the rules and regulations associated with the committee.
