City of New Orleans Invests $2million In Affordable Rental Development

The City of New Orleans provided $2 million of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the local, non-profit Efforts of Grace, Inc., operators of the Ashe Cultural Arts Center, to provide 30 units of affordable rental housing to qualified families. The housing development, named Venus Gardens, 'closed' on October 29th and was followed by a celebratory "toast" by Efforts of Grace staff and board members, community members, and local officials.

The 'closing' of Venus Gardens is OCD's last project expenditure which places the City of New Orleans ahead of the November 2nd federal expenditure deadline, and in compliance with the spending timelines established for CDBG funds.
