9th WARD HEALTH CLINIC BEGINS DEMOLITION
Clinic on North Claiborne Avenue Starts Demolition Process

The City of New Orleans began the demolition of the Katherine Benson Health Clinic on Tuesday, November 3rd.

In July of this year, FEMA officially declared the facility over 50 percent damaged as a result of flooding and damages caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Earlier this year, the city announced an additional $60 million in FEMA funds that have been secured, thus dramatically increasing the value of previously undervalued project worksheets for damaged facilities, parks and playgrounds. In addition to increased PW valuations, FEMA also declared 25 city facilities at least 50 percent damaged. The declarations included NOFD Engines #3, #22, #31, #39, NOPD 5th and 7th District stations, Templeman I & II as well as the Sanchez Center.
