MAYOR NAGIN, COUNCIL MEMBER HEDGE-MORRELL TO WELCOME RETURN OF BUSINESS TO GENTILLY NEIGHBORHOOD
ADRIAN'S BAKERY HOST CAKE CUTTING EVENT TODAY

WHAT: Today, October 14, Mayor C. Ray Nagin, Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell, and Gentilly residents will take part in a Cake Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the re-opening of Adrian's Bakery. The event will take place at 11 a.m. at 4710 Paris Ave.

Adrian's Bakery was originally established five years prior to the storms of 2005. After Hurricane Katrina totally devastated the Gulf Coast Region, the Darby family lost their three family owned businesses that were located at the Oak Park Shopping Center in Gentilly, New Orleans East and in Slidell. When those locations were destroyed, Adrian's opened at a new site in Algiers while owners sought an alternative location in anticipation of completed renovations to the Oak Park Shopping Center. The Algiers location will remain open.

WHO: Mayor C. Ray Nagin, Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell and Adrian Darby, owner of Adrian's Bakery

WHEN: Today, October, 14 at 11 a.m.
