Street Tree Planting Guide

The Department of Parks and Parkways encourages pre-approved tree planting by citizens.

For a permit to plant a tree between the sidewalk and curb, submit a written request with a sketch of the proposed planting location and the tree species you wish to plant. You can also download the tree planting permit application.

For permission to cut a planting hole if the area to the curb is paved, contact the Department of Public Works - Traffic Engineering (504) 658-8050.
