City Attorney Update: Case number: Civil Service Commission case 7404
Ruling: The Civil Service Commission upheld a disciplinary action by NOPD for an officer’s lack of professionalism.
Case Summary: The Superintendent of Police placed a police officer on suspension for a sustained violation of Professionalism. While working, the officer spoke to a complainant in a “rude and demeaning manner” and then failed to carry out an adequate investigation. The Commission found that the suspension was fair, even after noting the officer’s unblemished 10 year record.
