One New Orleans Conversation  Episode 4

This month’s One New Orleans Conversation features the NORD Jets Swim team and the NOPD 3rd District Station grand re-opening.

Carlyn Ducre in the Mayor’s Office interviews Larry Barabino, Jr., Director of the New Orleans Recreation Department, about the Jets swim team and the swimming program. Team coach, Randolph Shannon, discusses the team’s positive influence on the kids and highlights some of their recent successes.

Mayor C. Ray Nagin, Police Superintendent Warren Riley and New Orleans Police Department Third District Major Greg Elder hosted a ceremonial grand opening of the new Third District Police Station at 4650 Paris Avenue. The City of New Orleans purchased the new station on October 1, 2008 after the prior station was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. Officials provided an update on recovery projects that included the New Orleans Public Libraries and Irish Channel and St. Mary neighborhood street repairs.
