Operations Bureau
The Operations Bureau is commanded by a Deputy Chief who has the responsibility of providing police services to the public. In addition to providing a police response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, the Operations Bureau has the responsibility for conducting all criminal investigations, protecting life and property, preparing incident reports, handling traffic assignments, providing proactive patrols and special assignments

Kirk Bouyelas
Deputy Chief
Deputy Chief Kirk Bouyelas is a 26-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department and currently assigned as the Chief of Operations. Chief Bouyelas was promoted to this assignment on June 1, 2008.
Prior to his promotion, Chief Bouyelas served as the Commander of the Second Police District in Uptown New Orleans. His career has exposed him to a variety of assignments including staff positions with two Deputy Superintendents, Third District Investigation Unit Commander and Fourth District Deputy Commander. As a Sergeant, Chief Bouyelas served as the Commander of the Eighth District Managing Criminal Investigations Unit and Deputy Commander of the Rape Investigations Section.
Chief Bouyelas has been married for over twenty-four years to his wife Sheri and has a Criminal Justice degree from Concordia College and University.
