Fire Safety Presentations

The Public Affairs Division with the aid of Fire Prevention and Suppression coordinate and conduct Fire Education Programs for the public.

These programs are designed to educate and inform citizens on the dangers that lurk in their homes and workplaces along with the proper way to eliminate them. They also teach the proper ways to plan for and respond to an emergency.

We make important decisions everyday without even realizing it. These decisions can have an impact on many people and can cause unnecessary damage and loss
.
Through our Public Education Programs and Community Outreach programming we strive to educate the public on techniques to protect themselves, their families, their coworkers and their community, form unnecessary, preventable incidents.

Our Fire Education section, along with the Orleans Parish School Board and the Archdiocese of New Orleans have had an ongoing partnership to bring the nationally renowned "Learn Not to Burn" Program to New Orleans.
Fire Safety Education Officers deliver these programs to PreK-3rd grade students.

The Fire Education Department has obtained National Recognition by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for lives saved in the community due to the efforts in fire safety education.

Fire Education also delivers Fire Safety Programs to facilities such as: Churches, Summer Camps, Health Care Facilities, Government Agencies, Senior Citizen Groups, Day Care/Head Start Facilities and Housing Developments.
